Almar Pools, Inc. was established by Albina and Marion Wiggins in 1972. Following Mr. Wiggins death in 1989, Gerry Waser and Chad Jackson of Jackson Pools in Estero, Florida, purchased the company and changed the name to Almar/Jackson Pools, Inc. Shortly thereafter, Gerry Waser received his state license and became the sole owner of the company. Today, Gerry’s son-in-law and daughter, Drew and Kim Nash, are carrying the legacy of excellence forward as the managing owners of Almar Jackson Pools.
Waser, a graduate of the University of Florida, started his management career in 1978 with North American Biologicals, Inc. of Miami, Florida, eventually rising to the position of Vice President of Operations. Interested in building his own company, he “dove” into the pool business with the help of his good friend, Chad Jackson, who already ran a very successful business on the west coast of Florida. Gerry’s philosophy was simple: “Hire the best craftsmen, control your costs, charge a fair price, and show up when you say you will. Most importantly, communicate with your customers and make sure they are satisfied.”
After the first five years of continuous growth, Gerry realized he needed assistance in the sales and design department, and after a four-year search for the “right” candidate, Ray Bushnell was brought on board in 1999. With Ray’s help (and many referrals from our customers) Almar/Jackson Pools doubled in sales and expanded into the commercial market.
In 2018, Gerry’s daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Drew Nash, took on leadership roles within the company and today they are following in Gerry and Ray’s footsteps, continuing the legacy of building quality and unique custom swimming pools.
Drew has been working at the company for 20 years, starting when he was just 24. His background is in water mechanics, working on several large-scale water management projects on cruise ships and around landfill sites throughout the United States.
Kim was a well-known marketing and public relations professional on the Treasure Coast, making her the perfect person to talk to about your swimming pool needs and questions: she’ll listen to what YOU have to say.
The entire team at Almar Jackson Pools brings a wide variety of experience to their work, many of whom have been with the company for over a decade. Continuing education is one of their top priorities, with the entire team traveling annually to participate in courses at the Florida Swimming Pool Association conference in Orlando.
